AutoKeys Quick Start Guide

...eliminate tedious and repetitive typing tasks, save and retrieve sensitive information like passwords and account numbers, answer hundreds of customer service emails a day, type reams of text with a few keystrokes!

 
AutoKeys: Automatic Typing Macros automates repetitive typing and data entry tasks. AutoKeys has a number of easy-to-use features that are described below:
 
  • Form completion: Try it out! Use AutoKeys to complete this form!
  • Auto-Type Keys: specify an Auto-Type Key to associate with text you wish to type. When you type the Auto-Type Key in any window the Auto-Type Key will be replaced with the text. For example, typing "!pwd" could be replaced with "mypassword"!
  • Data Organizer: Information in AutoKeys is stored heirarchically. A "Category" is the highest level of organization, and you can create as many Categories as you wish. Within each Category, there are any number of "Sub-Categories", and each Sub-Category contains any number of "Items". Items contain the actual data that is stored in AutoKeys and may be automatically typed into any Windows application. As an example, a Category might be "Customer Service". Within the Customer Service Category there could be a Sub-Category representing each product a company makes. Within each product Sub-Category would be Items containing standard responses to various questions and other information.
  • Using the Quick-Add Feature: Click the Quick-Add button to quickly set up Categories, Sub-Categories and Items. Just select the type of information you wish to add, complete the form and click OK. AutoKeys will automatically be updated with the new information.
  • Using the AutoKeys Data Manager: To launch the Data Manager, simply start AutoKeys then click the "Data Manager" button. Use the "AutoKeys Settings" menus to change product settings, set product colors or set a password at the product level.
  • Auto typing with AutoKeys: Launch AutoKeys. Any Items you have created will be shown as buttons. If you have no items you can create them with the Quick-Add or Data Manager tool. Place the cursor where you wish to enter text, then click any button on AutoKeys. The text associated with that button will be automatically typed where the cursor was.
  • Recording Keystrokes: AutoKeys has a text capture feature that allows you to capture text as you type it. In the AutoKeys Data Manager, first set up an Item, then click "Start Recording Keystrokes". Type whatever keystrokes you wish to capture, then click "End Recording Keystrokes". The keystrokes you typed will appear in the text window. As with any other item, this text can be edited as you wish.
